Working at height

A few years back I used to turn up unload my trestle and board and work comfortably at height I believe this is against health and safety now, although the old practice of working off a ladder still seems to be in fashion, which I assume is still in breach of these rules.

any other ladder or staging ideas used by sign writers out there today?

I used to prefer staging as you could relax more than is possible off a ladder.
